THE COURSE

Building upon the concepts of Improv 101, students will begin discovering UCB’s philosophy of Game! Students learn to recognize patterns and comedic themes within scenes and how to heighten these elements for maximum comedic impact. Students will also be introduced to new concepts such as editing, second beats, and more. Take the next step in your improv journey with 201!

Course meets for 8 sessions, each 3 hours long. There is one class performance after the final session.

THE INSTRUCTOR

Lydia Hensler is a 20+ year veteran improv performer, writer and teacher. She’s best known for her work at the Upright Citizen’s Brigade Theatres in NYC and LA. Her credits include ASSSSCAT 3000, Grandma’s Ashes, Take It Personal: The Hip Hop Improv Show, The Female Gaze, Characters Welcome, Teacher’s Lounge, and Bastian. Lydia has also taught and performed improv and characters with theatre communities across the U.K. and Europe.

FINDING US

Monkey Barrel Comedy is situated in the heart of Edinburgh's Old Town. Our rooms are located on opposite sides of the street at the top end of Blair Street, just off the Royal Mile. Our venues can be easily accessed by bus or taxi from South Bridge or by foot from the Cowgate or the High Street. 

ACCESSIBILITY

Please contact our Box Office in advance if you have any access requirements, so we can advise on the options available. 

As with many venues in the historic Old Town, some of our spaces have accessibility limitations. We have three year-round performance spaces (MB1, MB3, MB4).
