THE WORKSHOP

Do you ever find yourself feeling stuck when you're in a scene, unsure of where to go with it? Constantly coming up with clever things to say is a daunting task but allowing your characters to feel emotions will make them real and entertaining, freeing you up to get out of your head and into the fun. This workshop will explore a myriad of emotional colors and apply them to improvised scenes. Emotional commitment heightens the comedy and deepens the ridiculous. Tap into this underutilized resource to become a limitless performer who can navigate a scene with ease.

Prerequisites: This is an intermediate-advanced course. A few years of improv training is recommended

About the leader: Jiavani can be seen doing improv streaming on the internet with Dropout TV or live in Los Angeles at the UCB Theater. Film/TV credits include Between Two Ferns: The Movie and Dead to Me on Netflix, Last Week Tonight with John Oliver on HBO, Reno 911!, and more. Voice credits include Digman! on Comedy Central, We Baby Bears on Cartoon Network and guesting on podcasts such as Comedy Bang Bang, The Neighborhood Listen and Mega. Jiavani is co-producer of the Gaysian AF show, a variety show in the Asian AF family.
